Sparta Community Hospital’s At-Home Health Care Administrator, Cheryl Adams, traveled to Washington, DC, to garner support for the Preserving Access to Home Health Act of 2022. Illinois advocates joined 80 others from various states on capitol hill.
“Medicare is considering a roughly 8 percent permanent payment cut to home health services starting next year.” Claims Adams. “If implemented, the cuts would drastically slash payments at a time when several economic factors, from sky-high gas prices to increases in labor and supply costs and soaring inflation, are already fueling a workforce crisis in the home health community.”
The impact of these Medicare cuts could be dire for home health providers and the patients and families they serve throughout our state and across the country. It is imperative that we protect the more than 138,000 Illinoisans who rely on Medicare to receive highly skilled, professional care in the home setting where they are safer and more comfortable.
In-Person meetings were held with staff from the following Congressional Offices: Representatives Michael Bost, Jan Schakowsky, Brad Schneider, Darin LaHood and Danny Davis. A virtual meeting was held with Senators Tammy Duckworth and Dick Durbin.
