Sparta Community Hospital recently honored Ruth Holloway, RN, Director of Quality Management, for 45 years of dedicated service to the communities they serve. Staff gathered to celebrate in the Boardroom of the hospital, refreshments were served and Ruth was presented with her 45 year pin.
Ruth began her career with Sparta Community Hospital in 1976 as a Registered Nurse, serving as staff and charge nurse on the Medical Surgical floor, Ob and Emergency Room until 1977. From 1977 until 1978 she chose to serve as Coordinator of Patient Teaching, Social Services Coordinator, Discharge Planning and Utilization Review. May, 1978 through June, 1992, Ruth was promoted to Director of Nursing Services. June, 1992 through June, 1996 she served as Vice-President of Patient Services: Quality Management, Risk Management, Administrative Projects, Social Services and Swingbed Coordinator. Ruth then moved on to Director of Quality Management: Quality Improvement and Risk Management from June 1996 through present and has continued with that role while adding other roles such as Accreditation Coordinator, Pediatric Quality Coordinator, Social Service Manager and Infection prevention.
Although she is celebrating 45 years, Ruth is not ready to retire just yet. She enjoys coming to work every day and serving Sparta Community Hospital and her communities to the best of her ability. Ruth and her husband Louis reside outside of Evansville. She enjoys spending time with her two children and 3 grandchildren. She loves gardening, playing the piano at church and for her own enjoyment, reading and sewing.
